First record group includes published works, drafts, editorial correspondence, and miscellaneous writings, including copies of reviews, articles, and columns written for newspapers and periodicals; complete sets of "John Fitch IV" columns (on microfilm), samples of "Story from the Country" written for the Worcester Telegram; complete set of "1177 Main Street" written for St. Anthony Messenger (1967-1980); materials documenting activities undertaken by Cormier such as personal appearances and judging; short stories and published novels, and approximately 120 drafts with separate titles, including editorial correspondence; unpublished novels, arranged by title; personal, fan, and editorial correspondence; and contracts, accounts, and business papers. Second record group includes material about Cormier and his writings, chiefly secondary sources, organized into series: reviews, criticisms, collection presentation, biographies and interviews, publicity, censorship, books owned by Cormier, Fitchburg State College class materials, and awards and honors. Audio-visual lots contain photographs, videotapes, audio recordings, realia, and posters, including four tapes dealing with the movie I Am the Cheese, and a tape entitled Cheese, Chocolate, and Kids: A Day with Robert Cormier; a realia collection of physical items such as the bicycle used in the film I Am the Cheese, book jackets, family and personal photographs, and large format photos, including scenes of the Fitchburg-Leominster, Mass., area which became settings for Cormier's writings.
